Adverse Rulings

Adverse Rulings

In the hearing report, you will be asked to report if there was an adverse ruling at the hearing.

For hearings representing the plaintiff/creditor in a collections case, the term “adverse” means:

  • Sanctions are issued against the client;

  • The case is dismissed with prejudice;

  • The case is dismissed without prejudice when the objective of the appearance is not dismissal without prejudice;

  • A judgment is entered in favor of the defendant;

  • A judgment is entered against the plaintiff; and

  • The result was different from the client’s request.

When you are filing the report and click "Yes" as an answer to "Was There an Adverse Ruling," you will see a drop-down menu that offers one of the adverse ruling categories mentioned above. Please note that the adverse ruling category is a mandatory field.
